Abstract

The flood that occurred on the road in front of the Heart Hospital in Kendari City has become a serious issue, disrupting accessibility as well as public health and safety services. This study aims to evaluate the factors causing the flood and develop effective management recommendations. The analysis was conducted by identifying inadequate drainage infrastructure, sediment and garbage buildup, and the low elevation of the road as the main causes. Additionally, land use changes and high rainfall intensify the situation. The study results indicate that drainage improvements, construction of infiltration wells, and road elevation increases are needed to reduce the impact of flooding. The estimated cost for infrastructure repairs reaches IDR 1,813,720,011, with additional drainage maintenance costs over one year amounting to IDR 11,262,937. Cooperation between the government, the community, mining operators, and the hospital is essential to ensure better accessibility and improve road user safety. This research provides insights and practical recommendations that are expected to serve as a foundation for better city infrastructure planning and management in the future.
