Author Guidelines for JEBE: Journal of Environment Behavior and Engineering

1. Manuscript Types

JEBE accepts submissions in the following categories:

  • Original Research: Innovative empirical studies in environmental engineering, waste management, renewable energy, or environmental policy.

  • Review Articles: Comprehensive analyses of recent advancements in areas such as pollution control, climate adaptation, or green technology.

  • Case Studies: In-depth examinations of real-world environmental projects (e.g., ecosystem restoration, renewable energy implementation).

  • Short Communications: Preliminary findings or significant new methodologies (max. 3,000 words).

  • Policy Perspectives: Critical evaluations of environmental regulations or policy recommendations.


2. Manuscript Structure

2.1. Original Research/Case Studies

  • Title: Max. 20 words, concise, and reflective of the research focus.

  • Abstract (200–250 words):

    • Brief background

    • Key methods (sampling techniques, data analysis)

    • Major results and sustainability implications

    • Keywords (5–8 terms, e.g., microplastic remediation, green infrastructure, carbon neutrality)

  • Introduction:

    • Identification of the environmental problem

    • Literature review

    • Research objectives and hypotheses

  • Methods:

    • Study location description (geographic coordinates for fieldwork)

    • Experimental/analytical protocols (e.g., Life Cycle Assessment, water quality testing)

    • Statistical tools (SPSS, R, GIS)

  • Results:

    • Data presented in tables/figures with clear units (e.g., ppm, mg/L)

    • Analysis of environmental trends or impacts of proposed techniques

  • Discussion:

    • Interpretation of results in the context of prior studies

    • Study limitations

    • Recommendations for practice/policy

  • Conclusion: Summary of findings and suggestions for future research.

2.2. Review Articles

  • Focus on emerging topics (e.g., nanotechnology in wastewater treatment)

  • Critical analysis of at least 50 recent references (last 5 years).


3. Formatting Guidelines

  • Language: English or Indonesian (with abstracts in both languages).

  • Font: Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing.

  • Length:

    • Research articles: 6,000–8,000 words

    • Reviews: 8,000–10,000 words

  • Tables/Figures:

    • Minimum 300 dpi resolution (.png/.jpeg)

    • Titles and captions in English

    • Data sources must be cited (e.g., "Data processed from KLHK, 2023")

  • Units: Use the International System (SI).


4. Submission Process

  1. Registration: Create an author account on the [JEBE submission portal].

  2. File Upload:

    • Main manuscript (anonymous for double-blind review)

    • Cover Letter including:

      • Originality statement

      • Conflicts of interest (if any)

      • Suggested reviewers (optional)

  3. Supporting Documents:

    • Ethical approval (for studies involving humans/animals)

    • Raw data (Excel/SPSS) or simulation code (Python/R).


5. Ethical Considerations

  • Plagiarism: Max. 15% similarity (checked via Turnitin).

  • Ethical Approval: Mandatory for field studies involving local communities.

  • Authorship: Use the CRediT Taxonomy to define individual contributions.


6. Peer Review Process

  • Stage 1: Editorial screening (2 weeks).

  • Stage 2: Double-blind review by 2–3 experts (4–6 weeks).

  • Revisions: Authors allowed 3 weeks (minor) or 8 weeks (major).


7. Post-Acceptance

  • Proofreading: Authors must review galley proofs within 5 days.

  • Promotion: Articles shared via JEBE’s LinkedIn network and environmental engineering forums.
